Texans on Mission has deployed chainsaw teams to Florida to help families recover from Hurricane Isaias, focusing on clearing fallen trees and debris while providing emotional and spiritual support to affected residents.

Hurricane Isaias made landfall near Destin, Fla., at approximately 9:30 p.m. EDT on Friday, Oct. 9, as a Category 2 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 105 mph. The storm brought damaging winds, heavy rain, and power outages across Florida’s Panhandle and parts of the Southeast.

According to TXM’s Facebook page, the first of three chainsaw teams departed for Florida Tuesday, with the remaining two scheduled to follow the next day. Volunteers are helping clear fallen trees and debris while also offering prayer, encouragement, and reassurance to survivors.

Aimee Freston, TXM’s director of communications, said the organization’s chainsaw teams are the only teams actively working in Florida at this time. The organization continues coordinating with local partners as they assess community needs and stands ready to provide additional assistance as needed.

Texans on Mission is also working to deliver 17 pallets of bottled water to Jay, Fla., which Freston said was without electricity and water. Financial donations to support TXM’s Florida relief efforts can be made at texansonmission.org/floridarelief.
