Texans on Mission will send a laundry trailer to Mineral Wells on Saturday, Aug. 29, to support first responders who continue to fight the Ross Fire, Aimee Freston, Texans on Mission director of communications, announced Friday afternoon, Aug. 28.
The Ross Fire broke out in Palo Pinto County Monday, Aug. 24, along Highway 180 and Ross Watson Road about 60 miles west of Fort Worth. It spread to 85,003 acres, with 26 percent containment as of Thursday night, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service.
As the fire continues to burn, heavy smoke has been reported from the eastern edge of Possum Kingdom Lake to Mineral Wells to the west, and US Highway 380 near Jacksboro.
