Texans on Mission announced online they are standing by in the wake of disastrous flooding that overwhelmed the Nepal-Tibet border region with rushing water and thick mud from landslides.
“Texans on Mission has been in contact with partners on the ground in Nepal to discuss ongoing needs and ways we can minister and provide relief moving forward,” the Facebook post read.
At least 389 people are confirmed dead, and 1,300 people are missing as of Thursday morning. The Nepal Tourism Board confirmed 63 of those missing are Americans, according to ABC News.
It is still unclear what caused the landslide, an incident initially reported as a 4.4 magnitude earthquake and confirmed to be 5.2 magnitude seismic activity early Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Images coming from the region show areas desolated by the landslide, leaving vehicles turned over and destroyed, homes and buildings flooded by water and mud, and survivors being rescued and treated for injuries.
The U.S. State Department confirmed 90 Americans were impacted by the floods and three were safely rescued but said they were not made aware of any American deaths.
