GuideStone is expanding its insurance solutions through an independent agency designed to provide more options for Texas churches.
The insurer transitioned its property and casualty insurance solutions to an independent agency model, GuideStone Agency Services, operated by GuideStone.
With the focus of providing insurance and mitigating risk, GuideStone Agency Services will work with multiple property and casualty insurance carriers to help churches access the coverage and structure options relevant to them.
“This program now allows us to evaluate coverage across more carriers and better match policies to a church’s actual needs,” said Matt Cardwell, a 30-year GuideStone veteran who is serving as managing director of the agency.
“Churches today are navigating insurance decisions that are far more complex than they were just a few years ago. Our role is to help leaders understand how policy structure and coverage terms affect risk,” Cardwell said.
GuideStone’s work with the Southern Baptist Convention will also include making risk management resources accessible to churches nationwide.
The agency plans to expand its national presence, though Texas churches will be among the first to benefit from GuideStone’s expanded solutions strategy.
“GuideStone’s work is rooted in strengthening pastors, churches, and ministries, so they can serve well today and prepare for tomorrow,” said Hance Dilbeck, president of GuideStone. “Expanding GuideStone Agency Services is a natural extension of that responsibility—helping churches address risk thoughtfully in ways that support long-term ministry effectiveness.”
