Ralph West, pastor and founder of The Church Without Walls in Houston, has been appointed ambassador for preaching and multiplying congregations for the Baptist World Alliance.
BWA ambassadors serve as volunteer leaders who provide pastoral presence, specialized expertise, and global representation in advancing strategic ministry priorities.
Ambassadors work under the guidance of the BWA general secretary to assist in advancing the global witness of the Baptist family.
West will bring more than 50 years of preaching experience and 40 years of pastoral ministry to the role.
West called the appointment a “profound honor.”
“I am honored and humbled by my appointment to serve as the inaugural ambassador for preaching and multiplying congregations for the Baptist World Alliance,” West said.
“I recognize the gravity of this appointment. I take it with the understanding of the gospel’s global applicability, accessibility, and import. I hope to advance the great mission of the Baptist World Alliance by helping pastors and churches unify around the power of the kerygma of Jesus Christ.”
West earned degrees at Bishop College, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Beeson Divinity School, where he earned a Doctor of Ministry.
He also serves as an adjunct professor of preaching at Baylor University’s Truett Theological Seminary and is a frequent speaker at universities and seminaries across the U.S. and internationally at Oxford University.

He is currently a doctoral candidate in Baylor’s Religion Department.
