Baptist World Alliance announced the appointment of Jeff Peck as director of communications and media.
Peck has served as director of marketing and communications for Prison Fellowship, director of internal communications for Alliance Defending Freedom, and executive director of Christ Together Greater Austin.
Peck is a published co-author of Stories of Faith and Courage from Prison and a Baylor University graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Master of International Journalism.
Peck will be based at the BWA Global Mission Center in Falls Church, Va., and will work closely with BWA general secretary to develop and guide communications and media strategy across all BWA ministry platforms.
Elijah Brown, general secretary and CEO of Baptist World Alliance, said Peck will bring strategic vision, communications expertise, and ministry-minded leadership to the role.
“Jeff brings exceptional communications expertise with a lifelong passion for ministry and mission,” Brown said.
“A gifted strategist and storyteller, Jeff’s leadership will continue to magnify the many ways the Lord is at work through the BWA in sharing the gospel, standing with the persecuted, and supporting the work and witness of Baptist churches in 138 countries.”
Merritt Johnston, executive director for BWA Women and outgoing director of communications, said she is grateful for the privilege of serving BWA and for Peck stepping into the role.
“I am deeply grateful for the privilege of serving our global Baptist family through communications and media over the past seven years, and for the honor of advancing our shared mission to impact the world for Christ,” Johnston said.

“As we have prayerfully discerned the next season of this ministry, I have been encouraged both by what God has done in the past and by what God has in store for the future. I am excited to pass the baton to Jeff Peck, whose experience, vision, and leadership will serve our global Baptist family well.”
Johnston added that she will transition into a full-time role with BWA Women in August while collaborating with Peck and the BWA team.
