So similar

The One Brothel Ministry that I work with here in East Asia has given me so many opportunities to share and to care for so many hurting girls.

We do a lot of logistical work. On one project, I spent hours and hours with a huge map on the floor sectioning off parts and highlighting and re-working. It was a pretty laborious task.

I kept thinking during it how badly we were looking for these girls in shops. I thought about how much I wanted to meet them and how badly I wanted them to know the Father. We spend hours upon hours searching, praying and seeking them out. To think that it is only a miniscule fraction of how much the Father is doing the same desiring them is pretty powerful.

When I get to talk with these girls, I realize how similar we are. We are about the same age, have the same music interests, love clothes and jewelry and girly stuff. I can only appreciate how fortunate I am that I was born into a family of believers, born in to a country with freedom and protection. Without that, I could be right where they are in complete and utter darkness.

I look at my sin and see how in the Father’s eyes, these girls and I are the same. We both have had darkness in our hearts. They will tell me how grateful they are that I walked into their brothel. And I just tell them how grateful I am that God walks into the brothel of my heart every single day.
