As a child, books stretched my world. When I was sick and lost my perfect Sunday school attendance, Mother stopped the tears with Little Women. I’ve celebrated National Library Week as long as I can remember.

I visited three great churches last week – Plymouth Park Baptist Church in Irving, First Baptist Church of Decatur and Cedar Cross Country Church in Alvarado.
Visiting the new Glorieta, many of our great memories of the place were sustained, energized by a fresh surge of youthful excitement from the staff. In the end, we were reassured about Glorieta’s spiritual mission.
As a public educator who works tirelessly for my students, I don’t appreciate our senators’ comments on public schools and our teachers.

On Palm Sunday, our church provides palm fronds for each child. After the story, we walk around the room, waving the branches, chanting, “Hosanna! Hail King Jesus!”
The death of a friend is not something we take lightly. The recent death of actor Gregory Walcott prompted many pleasant memories.
