RE: Voices: Gambling expansion won’t solve education emergency in Texas
They told us here in Oklahoma that the lottery and other forms of gambling would solve our education problems. Until this year, when they had to add more taxes, have our teachers been given a raise in over five years, and they have cut education funding for at least six years in a row. They told us that legalizing liquor – then later liquor by the drink – then horse racing would do the same. All of these legal in Oklahoma now and it has never helped our revenue whatsoever.
