RE: Seminary president seeks to build bridges
As an accredited public relations practitioner with 35 years of experience in a Baptist context who also has a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, I read Ken Camp’s recent article “Seminary president seeks to build bridges” from both perspectives.
From the Master of Divinity side, I would encourage Adam Greenway to lead the seminary to, in his own words, “do the right thing.” That would be to repent from the sins committed nearly 26 years ago and ask for forgiveness.
From the public relations perspective, we who practice true public relations and not “PR” adhere to a strict code of ethics that calls for our work to be authentic and truthful.
When you connect those two perspectives, the conclusion is that unless and until Greenway leads the seminary to do the first, the second is just another PR stunt designed to raise money from the generation they lost.
