DALLAS—Participants in this year’s Youth Evangelism Conference will share the gospel, as well as hear it.

At the Dallas Convention Center Arena, students will hear the gospel presented by illusionist Brock Gill and Grammy Award-winning band Switchfoot June 24, giving them the opportunity to commit to a relationship with Christ.
The next day, they will have an opportunity to share the gospel as they serve in ministries throughout the Dallas area in a YEC first, “Serve the Cities.” Service opportunities include ministering to the poor, hungry and homeless.
Partner groups include Cornerstone Baptist Church in Dallas, Beautiful Feet, Mission Arlington, Dallas Life Foundation, Urban Relics and The Lord’s Heart and Hands Ministries.
“Friday night, we’re taking our seats,” said Leighton Flowers, who leads Texas Baptists’ youth evangelism efforts. “On Saturday, we’re going to take the streets and give students an opportunity to serve hands-on, to not just talk about evangelism, not just get challenged for evangelism, but be shown how to do evangelism by people here locally who know how to do evangelism, know how to reach people, know how to meet needs.”
The Youth Evangelism Conference is made possible by gifts to missions through the Baptist General Convention of Texas Cooperative Program, the primary giving channel for Texas Baptists, and is part of a larger strategy to help congregations reach young people for Christ, Flowers said.
Last year, more than 5,000 people participated in the Youth Evangelism Conference and more than 450 people made recorded spiritual decisions.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for churches to invite people who would not normally come to a traditional church,” Flowers said. “It’s an opportunity for them to hear the gospel.”
