DALLAS—Through its Missions Gift Catalog this Christmas season, the Baptist General Convention of Texas is offering 34 opportunities to help people in need throughout Texas and around the world.
“These are gifts that change lives,” said Josue Valerio, director of Texas Baptists’ missions team. “What is the greatest gift we can give to someone who already has enough? We can give a gift to someone else in their name.”
Texas Baptists’ Missions Gift Catalog is designed to provide individuals, churches and Sunday school classes avenues to give in a way that will make an eternal difference, he explained.
Opportunities include helping support a church start on the Texas/Mexico border, sponsoring an orphan in West Africa, providing a student a life-altering missions experience and aiding victims of natural disasters.
Marla Bearden, disaster recovery specialist for Texas Baptists, said the missions team felt the Missions Gift Catalog would provide a one-stop resource for people desiring to support a ministry that touches them personally. It also would help showcase the numerous ministries the missions team partners with and offers.
Additional giving opportunities through the catalog include:
• Church missions kit for Peru, to bring church to people who never will walk through the doors of a conventional church building.
• Chairs for a retirement home in Barcelona, Spain, which will open doors for the directors and pastors to minister to the families of the residents of the retirement homes.
• Refugee relief in Lebanon, giving Lebanese Christians materials to aid refugees and show them Christ-centered love.

• Flood recovery in Central Texas, providing construction materials to rebuild homes and demonstrate the love of Christ to families who lost all their material possessions.
• Bibles for oil-patch workers, enabling chaplains to introduce families in the oilfields to the gospel.
“By giving through the Missions Gift Catalog, you are partnering alongside the Texas Baptists’ missions team to share the love of Christ to those in need and supporting missions and ministries around the world,” Bearden said.
