  A world hunger simulation meal helps at Dallas Baptist University helped participants understand there is plenty of food in the world, but it is not distributed equally. More than 50 percent of the world struggles each day to attain necessities, often feeling the grip of hunger, CLC Director Suzii Paynter said.

  Baylor University has withdrawn its proposal to the Baylor Alumni Association, citing lack of a positive response to a request that the group give up its independent nonprofit status and come under the authority of Baylor administration.

• Fire destroys most of Kerens church buildings

  Fire burned down most of the facilities of First Baptist Church in Kerens Oct. 18. The blaze incinerated the sanctuary, children’s area, nursery, office and library. Only the youth and education building remains standing.
