Churches urged to ‘turn the light on’ sexual abuse
Gary Morgan, pastor of Cowboy Church of Ellis County, spoke from his pulpit about the damage sexual abuse can cause. He assured victims if they disclose abuse and seek proper help, "it can get better." Too often, he said, victims of sexual abuse have not found the help they need in churches.

For soccer team, sharing love more important than winning
South San Filadelfia Baptist Church in San Antonio organized a soccer league for youth at the St. Peter-St. Joseph Children's Home. The ministry connects the church with more than 300 people, including family members. And when trophies are handed out, so is the gospel.

Members of a mission team from Dallas Baptist University can say they not only walked where Jesus walked, but also ministered where Jesus ministered. The 13 DBU students and staff spent a week working with children at the Nazareth Baptist School in Israel.

Churches seek to fill the summer gap in learning and nutrition
Many students who are on free or reduced-cost lunch programs at school do not know where to find their next meal during the summer. Texas Baptist churches along with the Texas Hunger Initiative have been helping to fill that gap.
