HPU senior’s award-winning video focuses on bridging generations

BROWNWOOD—Adam Hardy, a Howard Payne University senior from Corpus Christi, took top honors in a Baptist General Convention of Texas-sponsored video competition for his short film, Stained Glass.

The competition encouraged Millennials—people born between 1980 and 2000—to submit a brief film about their generation. Hardy's entry focused on bridging the gap between two generations and was inspired by The Orphaned Generation by Scott Wilcher.

"The book discusses the Father's heart for generations reconnecting with one another. In it, Scott tells a story about a senior adult telling a new kid to get out of his pew in church. That scenario inspired me to write the screenplay," Hardy explained.

The video starred Howard Payne freshman Wilder Cano of Seguin and Brownwood businessman Doil Hammons. Lending their support were Billy Nelson, a local videographer; Calvary Baptist Church in Brownwood, where the video was filmed; and many others who served as cast or crew members.
