Dillon International received approval to place children from Colombia with adoptive families in the United States.
Colombia's central adoption authority, the Institute Colombiano de Beinestar Familiar, has announced the nonprofit adoption and humanitarian aid agency, affiliated with Buckner International, is licensed to place children from Colombia effective immediately.

Families are needed for children with medical special needs ages 4 months to 16 years, healthy children ages 7 and older and sibling groups. Both married couples and single applicants may apply. Couples with at least one spouse of Colombian heritage are eligible to adopt healthy children ages 4 months to 6 years old. The expected time frame to complete an adoption from Colombia is 13 to 21 months, said Denise Schoborg, program director for Dillon International.
Licensing also means the opportunity for Dillon to provide humanitarian aid services to the children of Colombia—a country where 64 percent of families live in poverty, with 31 percent facing extreme poverty, according to a 2009 UNICEF report.
Dillon has committed to providing support for the ABC KIDS Project, an English-language program for children in protective custody, said Kyle Tresch, Dillon International's vice president of intercountry adoptions.
"Beyond intercountry adoption, Dillon has a longstanding commitment to meet the needs of vulnerable children in the countries we are privileged to serve." Tresch said. "We are thrilled at the opportunity to continue that commitment by making life better for the beautiful children of Colombia through the ABC KIDS Project."
