Boys compete at annual Royal Ambassadors state race

BELTON—Running races, pushing carts and stringing wooden turtles across a floor were just a few of the activities busloads of boys enjoyed at the annual Royal Ambassadors State Race.

A tire-changing contest was part if the RA gathering.The event, sponsored by Texas Baptist Men’s Royal Ambassadors and Challengers ministry, involved 347 participants from 33 churches across the state.

Boys in the first through sixth grades competed across a range of activities—from tire-changing contests to track and field events—at the Bell County Expo Center in Belton and the Salado High School track.  

The event drew 347 participants from 33 churches.“The Lord blessed us with good weather, and we were able to share with many boys the importance of keeping their eyes focused upon Jesus Christ as they are running the race,” said Keith Mack, state RA and Challengers director.

The annual event celebrates teamwork and values such as faith, persistence and ingenuity, under an overarching theme of God’s work through missions, Mack explained. 

Murrie Wainscott from Central Baptist Church in Italy, director of this year’s state race, expressed appreciation to the many volunteers involved with the event.
