Group demands apology for religious teaching that denigrates women
A group of women and men calling themselves the Freedom for Christian Women Coalition has demanded an apology for religious teaching they say is harmful to women. Shirley Taylor, founder of Baptist Women for Equality, presented the Demand for an Apology from the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood at a July 24 meeting in Orlando, Fla.

Jimmy Carter credits Baptist preacher for his election as president
Jimmy Carter said July 23 he doubts he would have been elected 39th president of the United States without the aid of Jimmy Allen, a Texas Baptist preacher who endorsed him at a time when his 1976 presidential campaign was floundering.

‘Love your neighbor’ more than a memory verse for children’s home residents
Residents and staff at South Texas Children’s Home Ministries helped repair homes of three widows and two families– as well as a local ministry building that needed painting– in six small communities near the campus during a summer project called Mission North Bee County.
