  There were plenty of big developments for Daniel Vestal to address in his final sermon at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship general assembly, including approval of the 2012 Task Force report, a distinctive CBF identity for congregations that desire it and a $12.4 million budget.

  CBF commissions new field personnel, church starters

  The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship commissioned eight field personnel and church starters at the group's annual general assembly. And in a challenge to the CBF, Phil Christopher, pastor of First Baptist Church in Abilene, talked about his church's $5 million capital campaign for missions, which began in 2010.

  The push to regulate auto title and payday lenders gained steam recently as more than three dozen organizations representing consumers, financial institutions, low-income communities and the elderly joined the cross-denominational Texas Faith for Fair Lending in efforts to push for new state laws to protect borrowers from interest rates and fees.
