Children’s sermons here to stay–but not without critics
The children's sermon has its share of critics, with some calling for an end to a tradition they consider to be ineffective and inappropriate. Others say the sermons can be effective, but it would be better if churches addressed children's spiritual growth in the context of regular worship.

Texas Baptist Men deployed for New York City in wake of Sandy
Texas Baptist Men deployed several units – including a feeding unit capable of serving up to 30,000 meals a day – to serve in New York in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. The organization's state feeding unit and a shower/laundry unit departed Dallas Nov. 2. Mud out and chainsaw teams are expected to leave Texas for New York on Nov. 3.
