Obituary: Harold “Hal” Norman Ostrander

hal ostrander130Harold “Hal” Norman Ostrander, former professor at Dallas Baptist University and Wayland Baptist University, died June 19 in Louisville, Ky., after a three-year battle with cancer. He was 65. He was born on July 13, 1955, to Harold and Virginia Ostrander in St. Louis, Mo. He began his studies in psychology and religion at Dallas Baptist College, where he met his future wife Carla. Later, he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and earned a Ph.D. in philosophy. During his long career as a college professor, he taught theology, apologetics, hermeneutics, logic and Old Testament and New Testament studies. In addition to his years at DBU and Wayland, he also taught at Boyce College, Brewton-Parker College and Simmons College. He is survived by his wife Carla; children: Alison, Mark, Andrea and Sara; and five grandchildren.
