Obituary: Dorothy Nell Myers
Dorothy Nell Myers, longtime denominational worker and supporter of Baptist ministries, died Nov. 23 in Dallas. She was 96. She was born to Maurine Parks Myers and DeWitt L. Myers in Denton on June 23, 1927. She graduated from Howard Payne College—now Howard Payne University—in 1946. In January 1947, she began more than two and a half decades of service working for the Baptist General Convention of Texas. She went to work for Buckner Baptist Benevolences in 1972 and retired from what is now Buckner International in 1989. She was a member of Gaston Avenue Baptist Church, which became Gaston Oaks Baptist Church, since 1959. She served on the Executive Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas, was a board member of Healing Hands Ministries and Gaston Christian Center in Dallas, and was a supporter of Dallas Christian Women’s Job Corps. She was preceded in death by a brother, DeWitt L. Myers Jr. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Alice Myers, and extended family.
