Lewis Zailer, 84, July 27 in Houston. He taught organ at Houston Baptist University and Sam Houston State University. He was organist at three Houston congregations—First Baptist Church, Tallowood Baptist Church and Baptist Temple. He is survived by his wife, Patsy; daughter, Deborah Fincher; son, David; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Paul McClung, 89, Sept. 5 in San Antonio. He was pastor of congregations in Rocky Mount, Dawn, New Home, Morton and Ingram. He retired from First Baptist Church in Ingram in 1991. For the next 23 years, he taught a Sunday school class at First Baptist Church in Kerrville. At the time of his death, he was a member of Sunrise Baptist Church in Kerrville. He was preceded in death by his brother, Travis. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Myrna; sons, Ken and David; daughter, Cheryl Murray; sister, Marge Durham; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Rudy Camacho, 79, Sept. 7 in Fort Worth. He was elected president of the Hispanic Baptist Convention of Texas in 1998 and first vice president of the Baptist General Convention of Texas in 2003. He served on the Howard Payne University board of trustees 13 years, the advisory council at Truett Theological Seminary four years and the general council of the Baptist World Alliance five years. He was on the Executive Board of the BGCT 23 years. In 2012, Baptist University of the Américas awarded him an honorary doctorate of Christian education. He and his wife, Micaela, established the Deborah Renee Camacho Scholarship at Howard Payne University, and they remained active with the Hispanic Baptist Convention’s Rudy and Micaela Camacho Scholarship Endowment Fund with the Texas Baptist Missions Foundation. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah. He is survived by his wife of 56 years; sons, Rudy, Ronnie and Robert; and three granddaughters.
