University of Mary Hardin-Baylor students participated in Love Central Texas during welcome week. The annual event is designed for students to discover service opportunities, perform community service, and grow closer to their small groups, organized by major, known as Cru Groups. For the seventh year, UMHB’s Love CTX event supported One More Child, which provides Christ-centered services to vulnerable children and struggling families. Nearly 400 UMHB students packed 28,000 meals and wrote notes for Belton Independent School District students. This year, the local H-E-B in Belton donated all food items for the meals, equaling more than $19,000 in donations. The meals will go to Belton ISD’s Project Heartbeat to help students who may not have food at home and will be distributed throughout the school year.
East Texas Baptist University will welcome Grammy Award-winning worship leader Chris Tomlin and New York Times bestselling author and pastor Mark Batterson for “Ignite: Lighting the Way with Song and Truth” on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. in the Rogers Spiritual Life Center. Designed as an evening of worship, biblical teaching, and encouragement, Ignite will be a night centered on faith, hope, and the truth of God’s word.
