… but Sunday’s comin’!

This weekend, treat yourself to spiritual comfort and inspiration.

One of my all-time favorite sermons is "It's Friday, but Sunday's Comin'!" by Tony Campolo. It's a bit long, like 45 minutes (we're so spoiled by short sermons), but more than worth your time. In the end, Campolo cites a sermon by the same name, first delivered by his pastor, Marshall L. Shepard Jr., of West Philadelphia. You can find it here. Click on "stream" or "download."

(Also, here's a link to the conclusion of Campolo's sermon, delivered by another preacher. I can't identify the source.)

Here's another wonderful Easter treat: "That's My King" by the tremendous S.M. Lockridge . Listening, you can make the connection between powerful preaching in the African-American tradition and moving improvisational jazz. More than anything, though, on this Easter weekend, it'll lift you up.

Ponder the crucifixion this weekend. And on Sunday, exult in the resurrection and have a blessed Easter.
