Rediscovering Discipleship: Making Jesus’ Final Words our First Work

By Bobby Gallaty (Zondervan)

rediscovering discipleship 200Rediscovering Discipleship is the third book by Bobby Gallaty, author of Firmly Planted and Growing Up: How to be a Disciple Who Makes Disciples. Gallaty, pastor of Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, Tenn., is the founder of Replicate Ministries.

“Discipleship is intentionally equipping believers with the word of God through accountable relationships empowered by the Holy Spirit in order to replicate faithful followers of Christ,” Gallaty explains, noting that was the disciple-making approach Jesus followed.

In the first half of the book, he examines discipleship from a historical perspective, pointing out the discipleship approaches of John Wesley, George Whitefield and others. In the second half, Gallaty explains “The Method of Making Disciples.” The book reaches its crescendo in Chapter 13, when he explains the “MARCS” of a discipleship group—missional, accountable, reproducible, communal and scriptural.

The book includes helpful appendices, including a section of frequently asked questions.
