Baptists Preaching is a new column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. Wesley Shotwell: Stump the Preacher (Luke 20:27-38)
Wesley Shotwell, pastor of Ash Creek Baptist Church in Azle, Texas, draws us into the questions we all ask but are unable to answer, questions like, “Did our dog go to heaven,” seemingly silly questions asked in all seriousness and faith in a God who takes them seriously and does know the answer. The manuscript for this sermon is available here.
This sermon was delivered during the morning worship service at Ash Creek Baptist Church on November 10, 2013, and is based on Luke 20:27-38, the lectionary passage for that Sunday. More of Wesley Shotwell’s sermon manuscripts are available here.
