Baptists Preaching is a column from the Baptist Standard. It is not an effort to advance any one theology or style but to present what a collection of Baptists considers a word from God. Likewise, Baptists Preaching offers a repository of Baptist preaching for future study and research. Mary Alice Birdwhistell: Pentecost People: Known by the Love of the Spirit (Psalm 33:13-22, Galatians 5:16-26)
Mary Alice Birdwhistell, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Waco, Texas, reflects on love as the primary characteristic of a person who lives by the Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit is perhaps the most mysterious part of the Trinity, and yet love seems to be the calling card of the Spirit. In this sermon, Birdwhistell provides a couple of examples of what the love of the Spirit might look like when demonstrated by Christians in the world.
