___bluebull Spiritual support training offered. Religious leaders and health care professionals will participate in an interfaith symposium Nov. 14-16 to learn how to strengthen the spiritual support they provide to hospitalized or chronically ill children. The event is sponsored by the Auxiliary of Texas Children's Hospital in Houston and will be held at the

___bluebull Dowd promoted at DBU. Denny Dowd has been named vice president for graduate and corporate affairs and acting dean of the College of Business at Dallas Baptist University. Dowd previously has served as director of the master of education program, executive director of DBU's Lab School and has overseen the five master's degree concentrations in the College of Education.
___bluebull Ruane to receive HPU medal. Howard Payne University will present its Medal of Service to Tom Ruane Oct. 19. A 1968 graduate of the university, Ruane is associate coordinator of institutional ministries for the Baptist General Convention of Texas.
___bluebull Baylor honors nine. Baylor University presented its Herbert Reynolds Award for contributions to Baylor heritage Oct. 27 to J.D. Hudson Jr., Jane Dudgeon, Winfred Moore and Sue Margaret Hughes, all of Waco. The Baylor Alumni Association presented its W.R. White Meritorious Service Award Oct. 26 to Kenneth Carlile of Marshall, Clyde Hart of Waco, Kent Reynolds of Tyler, Bill Sherman of Nashville, Tenn., and Elizabeth Vardaman of Waco.
