'Light Up Dallas' leads hundreds to faith in Christ

___DALLAS--More than 600 people made first-time professions of faith in Christ during the first few days of "Light Up Dallas," an evangelistic effort held in conjunction with the Baptist General Convention of Texas annual session.
___The effort began Friday prior to the convention and continued through midnight Wednesday, Oct. 31. Initial reports showed 620 people had professed faith in Christ and 184 had made other decisions as a result of the effort, said Rick Davis, director of the BGCT's Center for Strategic Evangelism.
___Gospel presentations were made to 6,625 people, he added.
___Leaders from Dallas Baptist Association, the North American Mission Board and BGCT planned the evangelistic event.
___Thirty-one Dallas Association churches participated, utilizing 521 church members and 193 volunteers from outside Dallas, said Wayne Shuffield, a BGCT evangelism consultant.
___Activities included 18 prayerwalks, nine block parties, seven direct evangelism efforts and three servanthood evangelism events.
___The BGCT invested $16,200 in Light Up Dallas and provided 37,500 tracts and 8,000 New Testaments.
